Made Your Pumpkin Pies Yet?

I just couldn't resist. A dear friend of mine forwarded this to me the other day and I simply had to share it.

Newsflash

This just in. A sample of dirt was just analyzed by geologists. It's official. Kathie Leung is not older than dirt.

Her husband reminded her that science is always making advances that disprove these types of things. She suspects he won't be around when that happens.

Mother’s Day 2008

Mother's Day wouldn't be possible without my husband. Yes, I'm well aware of sperm donors, as Dr. Phil likes to refer to those out there that qualify as "dead beat dads," but in my world, few qualify in that category including my own. So thank you, dear husband, for giving me a gift as grand as to be called a "mother."

Gung Hey Fat Choy

Gung Hey Fat Choy

Well, it's the year of the rat. Between the garage, the male end of the house (hubby's den, boys' rooms) and the sorry state of our checking/savings accounts I think a more appropriate description would be year of the rat's nest.

In lieu of my semi-annual writer's retreat, I've opted to use that time to see if I can unravel the mess. Oh, don't get me wrong, it's not something I really chose to do, rather it was the high interest rates on our credit cards and the dwindling bank accounts along with the heralded recession we're headed towards that made the decision for me.

Am I happy about this? Would you be? But as my life has lain out for me, you do what you have to do.

Isn't it interesting that the year of the rat means a time of hard work and renewal?

So Gung Hey Fat Choy.

Happy frickin' New Year.

A little surprise

This morning when I was checking my email, I saw that a few days ago I overlooked one from the California Parks reservation system, Reserve America. With 27-degree weather, wind gusts of over 25 mph and freezing cold rain this past week, the last thing I wanted to think about was camping (especially when we only do tent camping). It seems only natural I would have passed that one up.
